Fat Tuesday celebrated at bakeries
PONTIAC – Fat Tuesday gave folks around Central Illinois a reason to celebrate, as the famous Paczki made a return.
Pfaff’s Bakery in downtown Pontiac had a case full of the goodies on Tuesday in flavors ranging from banana and strawberry to fluffy white cream.
According to Wikipedia, the Paczki is a deep-fried piece of dough shaped into flattened spheres and filled with a sweet filling. It is usually covered in a glaze or powdered sugar. A small amount of grain alcohol is reportedly included in the dough prior to cooking.
