Obituary: Kiper, Edgar


Edgar F. Kiper, 95, Colfax and formerly of Hudson, KY, died at 10:05 am Saturday, February 10, 2018 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

His funeral will be 4:00 pm Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax with Pastor Dan Jassman officiating. Visitation will be 2:00 to 3:45 pm Wednesday also at the memorial home.

A second funeral will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Calvert Community Church, McDaniels, Ky. Visitation will be 9:00 to 10:45 am Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Calvert Community Church Cemetery, McDaniels, KY.

The family suggests memorials be given to Eastern McLean County Ambulance Association, Colfax or Calvert Community Church, McDaniels, KY.

Mr. Kiper was born November 16, 1922 in McDaniels, KY the son of Ezra and Della Mae Eskridge Kiper. He married Anna Saddler on August 2, 1943. She died on July 18, 2010.

Survivors include his children, Edgar F. Kiper Jr., Hudson, KY; James (Nancy) Kiper, Colfax, IL; Barbara (Gary) Spurling, Bloomington, IL; Thomas (Sharon) Kiper, Leitchfield, KY; Brenda (Mike) Morgan, Gridley, IL; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Kiper, Radcliff, KY; eleven grandchildren, Eric (Lynn) Kiper, Christy (Barry) Gilbert, Heather (Greg) Hack, Renatta (James) White, Stephanie (Matthew) Meyers, all of Kentucky, Angela Snyder, Pontiac, IL; Amy Veach, Bloomington, IL; Harley Morgan, Gridley, IL; Knute Morgan, Gridley, IL; Kolby Morgan, Forrest, IL; Travis Waterman, Colfax, IL and fourteen great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by a son, Robert Kiper; three sisters, Bernice Ridgeway, Lena Kiper and Ida Alena Kiper; two brothers, Orville and Roland Kiper.

Mr. Kiper was a lifetime farmer who always had a huge garden. He had formerly been employed as a plant foreman at Huron Copy Set, Leitchfield, KY retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Calvert Community Church, McDaniels, KY.
