Urdiales found dead in California

A former Marine found guilty years ago of murder in Livingston County was found dead in his California prison cell.

Andrew Urdiales, 54, was sentenced to death just last month for the murders of four southern California women during the 1980s and 1990s. The death is being investigated as a suicide.

Urdiales was charged in Livingston County following the 1996 discovery of the body of Cassandra Corum, 21, in the Vermilion River near Pontiac. His death sentence for the Livingston County case was eventually commuted to life in prison after the death penalty was abolished in Illinois.
