Falcons returning to state

The GCMS football team is returning to the state championship football game this year after defeating Eastland-Pearl City in the Class 2A semifinal playoff game Saturday by a score of 14-7.

The 13-0 Falcons will meet 13-0 Maroa-Forsyth Friday at Memorial Stadium in Champaign for a 1 p.m. matchup. It will be a rematch of last year’s title game which GCMS won 38-32.

Despite some turnovers and a pair of touchdowns called back due to penalties, GCMS still prevailed.
