Eckhoff wins mayoral primary

It appears Kelly A. Eckhoff will be Pontiac’s next mayor after defeating William L. Alvey in Tuesday’s Consolidated Primary Election.

The two both ran as Republicans and since no Democrats ran, this was the main mayoral race for Pontiac.

Based on unofficial results from the Livingston County Clerk’s Office at 7:53 p.m. Tuesday, Eckhoff had 57.57 percent of the vote compared to Alvey’s 42.43 percent. The unofficial vote count was 479-353.

Out of 5,979 registered voters, 833 ballots were cast in Pontiac Tuesday with a 13.9 percent voter turnout. This is with all 10 precincts reporting.
