Four structure fires in a week for Pontiac

Pontiac firefighters have responded to 90 service calls which included four structure fires in the past week.


A news release issued by the department indicates the first structure fire was June 20 at 7:23 p.m. at 815 N. Hazel Street in Pontiac for a vacant residence that was on fire. The fire was determined to be accidental.


The second fire occurred June 22 at 8:30 a.m. when Pontiac was requested mutual aid by the Chenoa Fire Department to respond to 12378 E. 1200 North Road for a basement fire.


The department’s third structure fire occurred June 23 when they were dispatched as automatic aid for the Saunemin Fire Protection District for a shed fire at 22718 E. 1800 North Road.


On June 25, at 11:31 p.m., they responded mutual aid to 8687 E. 1300 North Road in the Chenoa Fire Protection District for a vacant residence which was fully engulfed upon arrival. Pontiac firefighters are investigating the cause.
