Kilgore appointed to fill Heartland vacancy

Heartland Community College Trustees have selected a Pontiac school administrator to fill a vacancy on the Board.

The District 540 Board of Trustees voted at their December 10 special meeting to approve Jon Kilgore of Pontiac to serve as a Trustee until the seat can be filled via the April 2025 electoral process.

Kilgore will occupy the seat vacated on December 1, 2024, by the resignation of former Trustee Jeffrey Flessner. Flessner’s term was set to expire in the spring and he had not filed for re-election.

Kilgore is currently the Superintendent of Pontiac Township High School District #90. He has worked at Pontiac Township High School since 2005, serving first as Assistant Principal, then Principal, before becoming Superintendent in 2012.

Three full six-year positions, including the seat Kilgore is serving, will be up for election on April 1, 2025. Kilgore will not be on the ballot for the elected seat.
