Pedestrian hit on interstate near Shirley

The McLean County Coroner’s Office has released details surrounding a pedestrian fatality on I-55 near Shirley Thursday night.

The person was reportedly hit by a pickup truck on the southbound lanes near mile market 154. Kevin L. Curry Jr., 28, of Detroit, Michigan, was pronounced dead and preliminary autopsy findings indicated he died from blunt injuries as he was running across the interstate. Toxicology testing is pending.

Illinois State Police and the McLean County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate. Other responding agencies included Dale Township Fire and Rescue, Bloomington Fire Department and the McLean County Sheriff’s Office.
