Prison death investigated at PCC

An inmate death at the Pontiac Correctional Center is under investigation.


The Livingston County Coroner’s Office reports Christopher A. Hill, 36, was found unresponsive in his cell and first aid was administered by staff. Pontiac fire and medical personnel were called to the scene shortly after 10:30 a.m. Thursday.


“The inmate died on scene and was pronounced dead at 11:20 a.m.,” stated a news release from the coroner.


Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit and Livingston County Coroner are conducting the investigation and no foul play is suspected, according to authorities.


An autopsy was scheduled for Friday to determine and official cause and manner of death.
