Roof rehabilitation work has started on the historic Livingston County Courthouse in downtown Pontiac.

The project on the 1875 structure is estimated to take 12 to 18 months to complete. It is going to be about a $5.5 million project, according to Steve Lovell, Livingston County Board vice-chairman.

Lovell gave a county update during Friday’s Livingston County Farm Bureau Legislative Breakfast in Pontiac. He noted wind and solar projects continue and they are in the hearing process of the Panther Grove II wind project in southwestern Livingston County.

“These towers are using new technology,” explained Lovell.

He said the proposed towers are over 600 feet tall.

For solar, there have been 38 projects approved in the county.

“A lot of that is going in right now,” Lovell said.

Around 15 building permits have been issued and the county is in the permitting process with hearings.

“It’s a long drawn-out process but we are getting through it.”
