Shooting at Lexington gas station investigated



A shooting incident at a Lexington gas station which occurred Thursday morning is under investigation.


Illinois State Police indicate that exits from Interstate 55 to Lexington were closed and they advised the public to seek alternate routes.


“There is no threat to the public,” said a statement from ISP. “We’ll provide more information as soon as it’s available.


On Facebook, the Lexington Community School District said they implemented a soft lockdown as a result of a “threat” in the community. The school thanked the chief of police who notified them of the potential threat.


“As parents, please reach out to our counselors, teachers or principals if your child has questions or struggles as a result of today,” said the post from the Lexington district.
