State Police respond to crashes
A Woodford County crash on Saturday, along Interstate 74 at milepost 108, resulted in one victim being transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
State Police say Joshua C. Schnaiter, 33, of Dunlap was driving a 2005 red Cadillac east on the interstate in the left lane fleeing from a Morton police officer. Schnaiter reportedly lost control, traveled across the median and came to rest in the westbound lanes. Authorities say Schnaiter was able to leave his vehicle safely before it was struck by a 2021 white Kenworth truck.
Schnaiter was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Morton Police has additional charges on Schnaiter related to the fleeing incident.
Police report another crash occurred around 40 minutes later on westbound I-74 near milepost 109.5 involving four vehicles, which included a 2003 Ecoline E450 van carrying 16 passengers. An adult female and juvenile female of another vehicle involved in the crash were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.
